AMF Governoring Committees Terms of Reference

  • All committees will meet a minimum of 3 times per year

 

  • The committees will report back to the Full Governing Body at each Full Governing Body meeting & copies of the minutes will be circulated to all governors

 

  • Each committee will appoint a Chair & Vice-Chair at the first meeting of the committee in the academic year

 

  • The committees will be considered to be quorate when at least 50% of the membership is present

 

  • All members of each committee are entitled to vote

 

  • The committees do not have any delegated powers

 

  • The terms of reference will be reviewed annually by the committees, at the first meeting of the academic year, and recommendations made to the Full Governing Body.

 

Teaching, Learning, Assessment & Outcomes

Membership

Ø  Four or more Governors

Ø  Up to two Associate Governors

Terms of Reference

Ø  To monitor each school’s progress against the School Improvement Plan (SIP)

Ø  To receive feedback from the classroom monitoring activities taking place across the Federation

Ø  To receive and review assessment checkpoint analysis, focusing particularly on the performance of Pupil Premium, Special Educational Needs & Disabilities, Gifted & Talented and those students making less than ‘good’ progress

Ø  To monitor the effectiveness of the teaching teams’ planning and improvement

Ø  To monitor each school’s progress against its targets for student achievement

Ø  To monitor the implementation and effectiveness of each school’s preparation of pupils for public tests and exams

Ø  To oversee arrangements for educational visits, and ensure that an Educational Visits Coordinator (ECV) is involved in the planning for such activities.

Ø  To monitor the implementation of the following policies:

  • Cross Curricular Literacy & Numeracy
  • Homework
  • Presentation of Work
  • Sex & Relationships
  • Teaching, Learning and Assessment
  • Special Educational Needs & Disabilities
  • Pupil Premium

Personal Development, Behaviour & Welfare

Membership:

Ø  Four or more Governors

Ø  Up to two Associate Governors

Terms of Reference:

Ø  To monitor each school’s progress with the Improvement Plan.

Ø  To monitor the effectiveness of pastoral planning and improvement.

Ø  To review the effectiveness of the tutor group system at SKS.

Ø  To be satisfied that opportunities for student leadership are being exploited to the full.

Ø  To monitor the implementation of the following policies:

  • Good Behaviour
  • Anti-bullying
  • Attendance & Punctuality
  • Child Protection
  • Safeguarding
  • Health & Safety

 

 

Finance

Membership:

Ø  Four or more Governors

Ø  Ian Johnson, Headteacher

 

Terms of Reference:

Ø  In consultation with the Headteacher, to agree the annual budget plan, ensuring that the delegated budget is spent in a manner which contributes to the delivery of a quality education for all pupils & is consistent with the priorities of the School Improvement Plan

Ø  To ensure that the school operates within the Financial Regulations of the Local Authority

Ø  To make decisions on expenditure following recommendations from     other committees

Ø  To establish & maintain an up to date 3-year financial plan

Ø  To monitor value for money decisions, that goods and services purchased are of good quality, correct quantity and the best price possible

Ø  To ensure that sound financial systems and controls are in place

Ø  To report back to the governing body at least once a term

Ø  Financial decisions made may be reviewed and changed by the FGB
