September, 2012 - Moth Night with AONB (area of outstanding natural beauty) organisation held at Alston Primary School - a community event. The children found moths that had not been seen in Cumbria for many years. The AONB did a report for our science project which is being funded by the Royal Society.

November, 2012 - The children from Middle Fell had an Enterprise Week. They held a Fair to raise money. The money they raised bought a wii for their 'Golden Time' and they also donated some of the money to charity. The stall which raised the most money took a 50% share in their stall's profits.

October, 2012 - Halloween costumes came out and the children attended a Halloween disco with 'apple bobbing' and other Halloween activities organised by the Supporters' of Alston School (SAS).
The money raised was split between the class groups and was spent on classroom resources.

January, 2013 - Learning in the snow. There were schools in Cumbria closing, but we stayed open and the children made an igloo out of snow. The igloo lasted for several weeks and was the last thing to thaw on our playing field.

February, 2013 - The gardening club got the polytunnel ready for the Spring. We applied to the Royal Horticultural Society and got:
Level 1: Seeds
Level 2: Garden centre voucher
Level 3: 250 vegetable plug plants

Red Nose Day
March, 2013 - Red Nose Day. We all wore red and the children came up with activities to raise money for Red Nose Day.
A great time was had by all and over £100 was raised.

Music and Dance
April, 2013 - Parents were invited along to an evening of music and dance with our Park Fell children.
The children shared with their parents the work they have been completing as part of the music and dance curriculum.
A good evening was had by all.

May, 2013 - The children from Middle Fell held language evenings where they chose, prepared, cooked and served food from:
The children have chosen which language they want to learn and researching the food was part of this experience. Parents were invited along to sample the menus! A great time was had by all!

May, 2013 - £1,000 worth of new books arrived for our school library. The money came from a readathon week and money from AMSA (Alston Moor School Association).
The children from Flinty Fell helped to unpack them. The children then all came down in class groups to look at the new books before they went into the main library.
