AMF Governing Body sub-committees Terms of Reference 2019-2020

  • All committees will meet a minimum of 3 times per year
  • The committees will report back to the Full Governing Body at each Full Governing Body meeting & copies of the minutes will be circulated to all governors
  • Each committee will appoint a Chair & Vice-Chair at the first meeting of the committee in the academic year
  • The committees will be considered to be quorate when at least 50% of the membership is present
  • All members of each committee are entitled to vote
  • The committees do not have any delegated powers
  • The terms of reference will be reviewed annually by the committees, at the first meeting of the academic year, and recommendations made to the Full Governing Body.

Quality of Education – Chair Graham Carrick, Vice-Chair Ruth Harrison

Membership

  • Four or more Governors

Terms of Reference

  • To monitor each school’s progress against the School Improvement Plan (SIP)
  • To receive feedback from the classroom monitoring activities taking place across the Federation
  • To receive and review assessment checkpoint analysis, focusing particularly on the performance of Pupil Premium, Special Educational Needs & Disabilities, Gifted & Talented and those students making less than ‘good’ progress
  • To monitor the effectiveness of the teaching teams’ planning and improvement
  • To monitor each school’s progress against its targets for student achievement
  • To monitor the implementation and effectiveness of each school’s preparation of pupils for public tests and exams
  • To oversee arrangements for educational visits, and ensure that an Educational Visits Coordinator (ECV) is involved in the planning for such activities.

Behaviour, Attitudes & Personal Development – Chair Sheila Wyatt, Vice-Chair Glad Allen

Membership:  

  • Four or more Governors
  • Up to two Associate Governors
  • Headteacher

Terms of Reference:

  • To monitor each school’s progress with the Improvement Plan
  • To monitor the effectiveness of pastoral planning and improvement
  • To review the effectiveness of the tutor group system at SKS
  • To be satisfied that opportunities for student leadership are being exploited to the full
  • To monitor the implementation of the following policies:

– Good Behaviour

– Anti-bullying

– Attendance & Punctuality

– Child Protection

– Safeguarding

– Health & Safety

Finance & Strategy – Chair Ian Grey, Vice-Chair Brian Cooper

Membership:

  • Four or more Governors
  • Headteacher

Terms of Reference:

  • In consultation with the Headteacher, to agree the annual budget plan, ensuring that the delegated budget is spent in a manner which contributes to the delivery of a quality education for all pupils & is consistent with the priorities of the School Improvement Plan
  • To develop and evolve a forward-looking long-term strategic vision for the Federation and ensure a cohesive approach to the Federation’s strategic development
  • To consider and review the impact that political, educational and financial changes may have on the strategic vision and the schools Development Plans
  • To ensure that the school operates within the Financial Regulations of the Local Authority
  • To make decisions on expenditure following recommendations from  other committees
  • To establish & maintain an up to date 3-year financial plan
  • To monitor value for money decisions, that goods and services purchased are of good quality, correct quantity and the best price possible
  • To ensure that sound financial systems and controls are in place
  • To report back to the governing body at least once a term
  • Financial decisions made may be reviewed and changed by the FGB
