Year 10 Food Technology: Aeration
As part of our Food Science module Year 10 have been learning about aeration in cooking and how raising agents work. We have put out knowledge into practice by making whisked sponges- seeing how the mixture changes size and how the air in the mixture affects the texture and feel of the cake.
Table Cricket Tournament
Pupils from Key Stage 3 are taking part in an inter-school Table Cricket competition today following their sessions at SKS with Cumbria Cricket. The games are underway.
Sewing machine history and mechanics.
Year 8 have been enjoying the antique sewing machines. By investigating the mechanics, they were able to apply this to modern day machines and learn how they work.
Paper Mache
Cross fell are making paper Mache hot air balloons. This ties in with the transport topic they are learning. We had allot of fun.
Question and answer phrases in music
Year 7 have been working in pairs to compose their own question and answer phrases on the glockenspiels. They are learning to notate music which is a brilliant skill! Well done year 7.
Race to read
Launching today race to read! We will collect all reading records today to award any dojos from Christmas then start the challenge.
Each Monday we will collect diaries and move the cars along the track with 7 moves possible a week.

We are illustrators!
Just before Christmas we each drew a monster to be included in the young writers book ‘Monster Mayhem’. We have received a certificate to mark this achievement and all children will bring a letter home tonight to give permission for their artwork to be published. Well done Cross Fell!
A special visitor delivers books to Cross Fell!
A lovely last day of term, a picture quiz where children worked with their partner putting phonic knowledge into practice even on the last day! A special visitor (Santa) who was made to feel very welcome, such excitement about the books they received, children wanted to take them to lunch, outside…
AmaSing Composition
This morning, some of our budding song writers in year 9 and 10 took part in an online composition workshop with a professional musician. They are writing a song about equality which will be performed next year. Watch this space!
